Our Recommendations

Shopping: In the center of Grand Case, there are quite a few little grocery stores open daily; we recommend Le Bounty or US Supermarche for French treats. Another option for food and snacks is Match, the big French supermarket located in Marigot. For a more Americanized food shopping experience, you can go to Le Grand Marche in Philipsburg or Cole Bay where there are ATMs. The boutiques in Marigot are closed daily for lunch and closed all day on Sunday. The boutiques in Philipsburg do not close for lunch but the bigger ones like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger are closed on Sunday. Make sure to swing into La Petite Favorite, the small shopping mall in the heart of Grand Case. La Petite Favorite offers an eclectic mix of clothing, art, antiques and gift items.
Jewelry: The jewelry stores on Front St. in Philipsburg come a dime a dozen and it can be very intimidating for a first time shopper. We highly recommend Shiva’s, owned by the Alwani family. Ask for Jay and If you tell them that Stephanie from Le Petit Hotel sent you, we can guarantee that you will be well taken care of!

Electronics: You can get really great deals on electronics here. We recommend Boolchands on Front St. in Philipsburg. They have a great selection and the sales people are very knowledgeable and helpful. You can also try Klass which is next to Boolchands; ask for Sam.

The Perfect Ti’ Pot: At the bottom of L’Esplanade’s footpath, you will find an adorable little wooden house. This house is home to The Perfect Ti’ Pot. Inside you will find Cecile creating away on her pottery wheel. Please feel free to stop in “by chance” or make an appointment with Cecile. Her cell # is 0 + 0690 61 90 48.

The Marigot Market: Wednesday and Saturday mornings are when you will find the very traditional Caribbean market taking place. It is a fun place to go to immerse yourself in the local culture, to take pictures and to stock up on some local fruit, vegetables, fish and spices. The earlier you go, the better. The craft market takes place everyday.

Activities: Should you wish to have some more information on trips or things to do on the island or the surrounding islands, please ask the front desk. St. Martin offers its visitors a wide variety of activities such as sailing, windsurfing, horseback riding, snorkeling, diving, deep sea fishing, parasailing, sunset cruises and more! Whatever you decide, we will be happy to make all of the arrangements for you.
Important: Please remember to take your passport with you to the other islands.

Sailing: If you want an unforgettable day, the 75’ catamaran, ScoobiToo will treat you right. Sailing from the Grand Case Beach Club, it couldn’t be more convenient. Destinations include Anguilla, St. Barths or Tintamarre, Prickly Pear or a sunset cruise. You also have the opportunity to sail on one of the America’s Cup boats…spectacular!

Butterfly Farm: Located on the road to Le Galion Beach. A fun thing to do on the way to the beach or on a rainy day. The staff is very knowledgeable and will take you on a full guided tour. The price is $12/per person. If you go early enough in your trip you can go back for free as many times as you like. Mornings are the best to see the butterflies hatching. Bayside Horse Riding Stable is right next to the farm and their beach rides are a fun thing to do as well.

Loterie Farm: Located on the way up to Pic Paradis. Day or night, this place is not to be missed. Wear good shoes because you may be inspired to hike up to the top or to experience their spectacular fly zone! Or, you can simply indulge at their fabulous restaurant, The Hidden Forest Cafe which is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. A nice change from the beach…the other St. Martin!

Massage/Spa: We have 3 fabulous massage therapists who will be more than happy to give you a massage in your room. We can arrange this for you or you can call them by dialing 0 + 0690 61 90 00 for Patrick, 0 + 0690 53 26 86 for Dinah and 0 + 0690 50 08 60 for Tricia. The cost for a one hour massage is around $90 depending on the therapist. If you don’t mind driving to get pampered, 5 minutes away by car you’ll find Estelle at Ti Paradis, located at Le Domaine in Anse Marcel. Estelle is a wonderful therapist offering massage, facials, waxing, manicures & pedicures. Estelle isavailable by appointment Mon. to Sat. from 9am until 7pm. Call her at 0 + 0690 58 48 89.

Casino: If you find that you want to try your luck in one of the casinos, try the Princess Casino at Port de Plaisance in Cole Bay. There are a few good restaurants on the Dutch side for dinner: Bamboo Bernie’s, Bliss, Temptation, Halsey’s, Pineapple Pete’s, and Terra.

Internet: If you brought your laptop along, we have WI-FI throughout the hotel. If you do not have a wireless card, we have them for purchase. Otherwise, there is a high speed internet cafe located in Grand Case, next to Le Bounty: DVpro Computer Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30am to 6pm. Their price is $3.50 for 30 minutes and $5 for 1 hour.
